What a wonderful memory! Three years ago Robin Einzig-Visible Child presented a special workshop for the parents and educators of the Chicagoland area. You knew it was a valuable moment in time when the room was filled in spite of the most incredible snow and ice storm. Thank you to all of the members of Chicagoland RIE® inspired members who reached out to all their contacts and we were able to offer this workshop in a very short period of time. Thank you to the Director of the Child Care Center of Oakland Community College, thank you to Jen KM for her commitment to reaching out to her contacts and assisting us in putting things together. Thank you to Helen Rubin for reintroducing me to the work of Robin Einzig and letting us know she would be in our area. In addition to Robin's presentation, she opened the floor to questions. I remember the majority of questions revolved around children hitting their parents and peers. People went away with helpful suggestions and material. The photo shows Robin ready to hand out her material. Who knows, maybe we can reintroduce Robin to the Chicagoland area in the near future.

"I CAN'T believe it's over! The wonderful evening with Robin Einzig is over! Weeks of anticipation and she did not disappoint! Every word describing the workshop is just the tip of the iceberg. Parents and educators came away with good solid information based on years of experience and research. It felt as though Robin invited us into her 'home.' She shared personal experiences and created an atmosphere of peace and calm. The two short hours flew by. There wasn't an empty seat in the house Fathers, mothers, and teachers filled the room. There were lovely snacks to be had, but no one moved during the presentation. No one wanted to miss a moment. The audience had the opportunity to share "real life" experiences. Robin's responses were not only helpful but authentic. After listening, parents knew they could return home and communicate in a way that honored both parent and child. It was a gala event. It was an exciting event filled with so many gifts. I have so much more to say but will write more tomorrow. Just one more thing. This was a very special long-awaited workshop as people still came out even though we were pummeled with freezing ice rain and snow in the Chicagoland area.
Transforming & Rethinking Discipline: The Role of Respect & Relationship "This workshop was presented by Robin Einzig of Visible Child, it focused on a model of adult-child relationships that relies on connection, collaboration, and cooperation rather than control and coercion. Compassionate, connection-based models of discipline grounded in child development may be harder work for adults at first, but the payoff is enormous, and they offer us a chance at a genuinely joyful life with our children."
